Visitors Industry

Aloha Everyone,

We aborted our plan to walk this morning to Bonifacio High Street. Our shopping to Landers and check on a weekend Farmers Market took time. It was also a hot and humid day.

Lunch at Mary Grace Cafe on the rooftop of Uptown Mall. Purchased two bottles of Absolute drinking water each weighing 51 fl ounces from Marketplace. To keep ourselves hydrated, we use minimum two bottles everyday.

Foreign visitors profile has changed since J.J. and I begin spending our winter holidays in the Philippines. Overall, there are more Middle Easterners as well as Eastern Europeans. Most of them are not very sociable. There are also a couple of groups of Japanese wives whose husbands are working while their bilingual children attend International Schools.

Hong Kong’s largest tourism are Filipino visitors who fly there for a couple of days to dine and shop. Hotels offer great discounts and provide transportation from and to the airport. Estimated number is one million in 2024. They can enter without visa.

Temperature at 4:25pm was 86 degrees Fahrenheit and the weather channel was predicting 100% humidity. J.J. and I walked to Mitsukoshi Mall and had a hot noodle soup dinner at Santouka.

Maybe we will brace ourselves and walk to BGC High Street tomorrow. The weather report is again high humidity.

Aloha -- Cathi
