Aloha Everyone,
Great morning! We started with a late breakfast and did one large load of laundry. Then we were reminded of the 3 hours Fire Drill at the middle of the day. According to the memo we received from the property manager, all 5 elevators will be automatically stopped from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. To avoid walking down the stairwell, J.J. suggested for us to take a taxi to Makati for lunch. This would also give us a chance to see what’s going on with the Makati Greenbelt 1 demolition.
Makati maybe the financial capital of the country but it is beginning to show its age and absolutely overbuilt. There are many people, too many cars and far too many motorbikes.
J.J.’s first choice was Modern Shanghai for Chinese Dim Sum. It was 1:00 pm when we arrived and layers of interested diners were lined up in front of the restaurant. The seating hostess offered us a corner stool but J.J. wanted a more comfortable booth. Off we went to our 2nd choice - Fely J’s right next door. We were given the last table and J.J. placed our orders. The fresh lumpia and Sinigan na Bangus were outstanding.
Amazing what an experienced chef can do with same ingredients. For one, serving Sinigan hot with lid on to retain the heat makes big difference.
Our taxi ride back was horrible :-(. I almost wondered if the driver was high on drugs. Our plan was to get back to our room to freshen up, rest for about 1/2 hour then head out for dinner at Mitsukoshi. We both were exhausted. The heat, crazy driving weren’t good. I ate light snacks with water, J.J. had coffee and some crackers and call it our dinner. Tomorrow if the weather is better, we will head off to BGC High Street for a hearty and healthy lunch. But first, I am ready for 8 plus hours of sleep :-)
Aloha -- Cathi
