Port of Call: Bay of Islands, NZ

Aloha Everyone,

Our first port of call is a tender port. Sunny but cool weather. Hopefully, my heavier windbreaker will keep me warm.

Bay of Islands relies heavily on tourism. Whenever a cruise ship is in town, businesses open to welcome visitors.

Library’s “free WiFi” that Hutch mentioned in his destination presentation was only for you to check for messages.  Location was outdoors.

Walked around the entire town and visited their Farmers Market.  Popular items were possum yarn products and “guaranteed” skin care cream that’ll offer amazing results. Kamaki & Nalukai, Hawaiian Ambassadors were among those who were making their purchase.

Stopped for Cappuccino before returning to the ship.

I use 2 Xtra large size bandages plus 2 small size for my feet. These are essential for my daily walks.  Prices at the local pharmacy was twice the price compared to buying in a supermarket.

I also purchased 5 postcards and stamps. Only 6 NZ dollars for the postcards but the international stamps were 20 NZ dollars.

Aloha -- Cathi
