Jeff Returns to Honolulu

Aloha Everyone,

Jeff’s Hawaiian Airlines flight was scheduled to leave before 9 am. Due to mechanical problems, it was delayed by 3 hours. We exchanged text messages while I went on my morning walk.

My Daughter-in-law and I went for a 30 minutes walk. Relaxing breakfast before the two of us headed to purchase a couple of silk scarves. The tiny shop is located in Claremont Mesa. 

I found two scarves with colors and designs I liked. This morning’s time together with my daughter-in-law was precious.

Relaxing Family Day

Aloha Everyone,

One of my favorite activities is to sit with my granddaughter side by side with our sketchbooks and draw. We choose same subjects — hands, faces, clothing, birds, flowers, etc. When one of us is finished, we say, “I’m done!”, then the two of us move to another subject.

I had a list of iPhone related questions for Jeff. He solved them one by one including uploading the OPTUM app and uploading my health data for me.

Our son reviewed my latest lab test results and clarified some of the results.

I was able to go walking with my two sons. My granddaughter also joined me on one of my walks giving us another chance to talk about her schoolwork, friends, volunteerism, and her college application process.

Jasmine Chinese Dim Sum Takeout

Aloha Everyone,

Jasmine is one of the best Chinese takeout places. We enjoyed a large selection of dim sum and noodle dishes. One of the popular Singapore Noodles was spicy and perfectly suited for this hot day.

Tonight while our granddaughter attended her volunteer Korean Orchestra concert and dinner with our daughter-in-law, J.J. prepared arroz con pollo requested by Jeff. The four of us sat at the dining table and talked about all subjects including our retirement and the status of our health.

Fantastic Family Reunion

Aloha Everyone,

My son and I went on our morning walk. We are in the middle of an unusual heatwave. It was so hot. The outside temperature was already in the 80’s when we started out at  7:00 am.

 

Cirrus clouds covered the sky giving us some shade until the sun eventually came out. Trying to maintain my normal 3 hours walk in the morning wasn’t easy. I was so grateful for the strong air conditioning cooling the entire house.

Jeff’s plane arrived on time and while J.J. and I waited for them at home, everyone went to meet him at the airport. The brothers regularly have long conversations. Jeff and I also talk on daily basis unless we are away on cruises.  To see their smiling faces and watch our daughter-in-law and granddaughter interacting with our sons made our hearts soar. J.J. and I are grateful for the love, trust, open communication and emotional connection.

To La Jolla to Visit Our Family

Aloha Everyone,

J.J. timed the delivery of our orders from Walmart. About half of the items are being shipped from other sources but we are using Walmart to keep track of our shopping.

Some items that are difficult to find in stores such as Sensodyne Tooth Brushes and lamb's were first to arrive.

This visit will be even more special. Jeff is flying from Honolulu to be with us. Over a wonderful dinner featuring salmon, our son and daughter-in-law shared with us what they have planned out for our future meals.

Where there is family, you will find love.

One is the map I drew of MSC Vertuosa taken JUL 27 to AUG 10, 2024.

Eastern Mediterranean destinations are interesting and depending on Geopolitics of the region, we may be able to consider.

Our Takeout Food During the Last Week of August

Aloha Everyone,

Getting takeout bentos from three different Japanese supermarkets means certain items are excellent at one, but photographically they begin to look repetitive.

One exception are photos from Jeff & Jenny enjoying gourmet pizza in Hawaii.
