Aloha Everyone,
The captain’s onboard announcement on the timeframe when MSC Virtuosa is expected to sail passed the Rock of Gibraltar was punctual. J.J. and I enjoyed the amazing sight. The Rock of Gibraltar is a monolithic limestone mountain measuring 1,398 ft high. It is British territory and The Rock serves as an impregnable fortress. Off limit to the public is a labyrinthine network of man-made tunnels known as the Tunnels of Gibraltar.
A major tourist attraction are hairless species of monkeys called Barbary Macaques.
MSC began its seafaring venture as a private firm offering cargo shipping. The original family no longer are involved in its business.
Today MSC is owned by Swiss as a for profit organization. One can tell that strong profit motivation because everything has a price tag. We sent out our laundry. Just 4 polo shirts and 2 pairs of pants were charged €30.
We found a request for donations on our stateroom door. Before we had a time to react, we received a message informing us that our €1 each were matched by MSC. J.J. and I are all for supporting to help protect and restore natural resources of our oceans.
Aloha -- Cathi
