How to Spend All Your Money Before You Die

Aloha Everyone,

This is a frequently visited topic among our friends. As we welcome each birthday, we are thoughtfully aware of the limited time on this planet. Whether you are wealthy with substantial assets or getting on with more limited resources, what happens to the money you leave behind?

A very close friend of ours is recovering from a major accident. He and his wife have no direct heirs. Our friend is wealthy. He has substantial income from his property holdings, high yield savings accounts, an IRA
or 401 (K). He doesn’t want to see their relatives fight over for inheritance.

He looks at us and is in agreement with how we spend our resources. The two of us travel around the world. We seek for experiences instead of material things. J.J. and I visit our children and granddaughter. We also try to see our relatives & friends.

Thus the concept of “How to spend all your money before you die” is something to aspire for. Experts’ advice is the last check you write is to IRS so your children won’t have to pay what you might owe.

During our telephone conversation this afternoon, our friend thoughtfully mentioned that his windshield is foggy and cloudy. His rear view, on the contrary, is full of lights with beautiful places, happy faces, great friends & amazing foods he and his wife enjoyed over the years. Poignant but true observation. I promised that we will be staying in touch on regular basis.

Aloha -- Cathi
