Kirkwall (Orkney Island), Scotland

Aloha Everyone,

Kirkwall is the capital of Orkney.  Home to around 9,000 people, this is a charming walkable city.  A free shuttle bus dropped us off near St. Magnus Cathedral reflecting the town’s Norse heritage.

We were able to find a souvenir store which offered copier service. Friendly proprietors helped J.J. print copies of luggage tags needed for our MSC cruise.

The two of us returned to the ship early. We sat in comfortable chairs In the Piazza. Deflated oversized beach balls and oversized plastic balling pins were being used as props
for a Six-pin Bowling Challenge. Amanda, the cruise director was getting her workout as she chased around for the runaway beach ball. At times participants’ passions were high but nearly everyone displayed good sportsmanship.

Aloha -- Cathi
