Aloha Everyone,
Chinese New Year 2024 will be on Saturday February 10th. There are numerous festivals and celebrations associated with Chinese New Year. It culminates with the Lantern Festival on February 24.We went to Kimpura Japanese Restaurant for their Yudoufu, mostly boiled tofu with vegetables. Weekend celebration groups had reserved all the tables. Only available one that was offered to us is one of the tepanyaki tables which we have to share with strangers. J.J. and I agreed for sharing but when we were told that non-tepanyaki dishes are allowed, we went next door.
These two restaurants have the same management with very similar menu cards. The seating hostess offered us one remaining table. It was lousy. With large groups arriving and it was getting close to noon, we decided to stay. Under the section of “Healthy Options”, I found a bean curd dish that was even better than the yudoufu we missed in Kimpura.
J.J. loved 2 of the 4 dim sum dishes he ordered. Sometimes you loose some but gain a lot more. The table next to a pillar and a cash register was not conducive to private conversation, but the food was excellent.
The two of us even peeked at a celebration party at a next door function room. We heard a priest’s blessings after his long sermon. At the end, the restaurant worked out.
Aloha -- Cathi
