Cebu Here We Come

Aloha Everyone,

Cebu is a new island for us to visit. J.J. recalls that he’s been to Cebu some 60 years ago. I am ready to absorb the sights, sounds and tastes of Cebu.

Two wheelchair assistants were waiting for us at the curbside. We were immediately at the PAL business class check in counter. No necessity to show our tickets as the clerk verified our names, checked our driver’s licenses, and issued us boarding passes.

Thus far all went smoothly. J.J. instructed our wheelchair assistants to proceed to Mabuhay Lounge. We had two hours wait and our gate was just less than 250 feet away.

We took an assortment of tiny snacks. Arroz Caldo was soothing to my sore throat. Filipino macarons were good.  Then things started to unravel. Our flight was delayed by an hour. No reasons were given but we were told the departure gate was moved to the other end of the terminal. It was a “hurry up and wait” situation. J.J.’s steadfast nature is helpful when things start to fall apart.

Flying time of one hour was adhered more or less, but due to the delay of our plane’s arrival, an additional 30 minutes passed before being allowed to deplane.

Domestic business class service is nothing to write home about.

It was pouring rain. No show of contract taxi from Agoda. We hired a limo at the Cebu airport to our hotel at Ayala IT Park Central Bloc. A very long and stressful transition day.

Aloha -- Cathi
