Baguio Tourism

Aloha Everyone,

We were told that that the Christmas season is the worst time to come to Baguio. Families are on holiday. The city is absolutely packed. Once we drive out of the Baguio Country Club, streets are congested, and it is impossible to find parking.  

According to the 2015 census, Baguio has a population of 345,366.  This number easily doubles because of visitors.

J.J. wanted to revisit some of the places we used to frequent, but we mainly stayed in the car, and I took photos as Emer drove.

Our two highlights, Baguio Botanical Garden and Ben Cab Museum was well worth driving on bumpy roads.  I felt nauseous but I was able to make it back to our room.

After Americans relinquished Baguio to the Philippines, the place is now reserved as a holiday destination for local government officials, teachers, students and visitors from Manila.

It has also become popular for Korean students who come to learn English at schools for Koreans, run by Korean companies.  This has given some challenges to the locals but then it is these visitors who are helping to sustain the economy between the Christmas and summer tourism periods.
