Fruit Shopping & Lunch at Jade Garden

Aloha Everyone,

An apple a day keeps a doctor away maybe a saying you recall from your childhood days. Actually, eating a fresh crunchy apple or pear can clean your teeth which in turn increases saliva in your mouth. The motion of chewing can stimulate your gum and also help reduce bacteria that can cause cavities.

I noticed seniors prefer to eat soft foods which they don’t have to bite into. Many prefer soft chopped mixed fruits cocktail. Abundantly available tropical fruits such as bananas, mangoes, papayas and dragon fruit all have soft or even pulpy meat. But we also miss Western fruits. So today we went to a supermarket specifically to purchase crunchy apples.

J.J. enjoys making the daily restaurant selection for our lunch venue. The two of us discuss what type of cuisine then Google for restaurant choices within walking distance.

Jade Garden is an older establishment meant for banquets or large family gatherings. There were no directions as to how to access the second-floor location. After taking an escalator and elevator and unable to find the entrance, J.J. and climbed two sets of stone stairs.

Well, the restaurant was worth the climb. A very large dining hall with side rooms for banquets, the facility is showing its age, but the food was excellent. Our fried bean curds and spinach with crabmeat soup were particularly delicious. We left the restaurant using a private elevator that took us to the main entrance which spoke of its more glorious past.
