Azamara Docks in Istanbul

Aloha Everyone,

This year Ramadan in Turkey was from Saturday, April 2nd to Sunday, May 1st. Ramadan is a time for prayer, reflection and community. Monday and Tuesday (May 2nd & 3rd) are special holidays for Muslims to celebrate the end of Ramadan and break from the fast.

By the time we received the port authority’s approval to disembark, it was already 2:00 pm. J.J. and I were given our “transit passenger” passes. Our entry was easy. What greeted us was mind boggling!  Huge crowds which we are neither used to or comfortable. Our plan was to promenade within the shopping complex next to the dock. We gave up after 45 minutes because of the crowds.

Our last dinner on Azamara was enjoyable and memorable. We bid adieu to our attentive cabin steward and dining room servers. Only 50% of the passengers are remaining for the next leg of the cruise. With the new incoming group, Azamara will sail with approximately 320 passengers v 460 on our voyage.

Aloha -- Cathi
