Aloha Everyone,
Considered one of the most beautiful and attractive villages in Rhodes, Lindos is located south of the capital. The Acropolis of Lindos is built high above a rocky hill. It is an imposing and dominating structure. When tourist season is over, stores and restaurants shut down and many return to their village to attend to their livestock, olive and fruits trees. Our guide, Giannis said another week or so in Rodos and he too will return to his village to work on his winter job - mainly taking care of his olive trees.
A local shopkeeper kept trying to entice us to ride donkeys to climb up the Acropolis. He called out saying just 10 minutes one way. After walking around the village of Lindos trying not to get lost, the two of us took a coffee break to take in the magnificent view.
Peaceful bay of Agios Pablos (Saint Paul) lies below the backside of the Acropolis. Named after a small white chapel dedicated to Saint Paul, when according to a local legend, he came to Lindos in 43 AD to preach Christianity. Today, the sandy beach was void of visitors.
Photos of the two of us and Giannis were taken on hilltops overlooking Prasonisu Rhodes where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean.
