Hummingbirds of Ecuador

Aloha Everyone,

Hummingbird of the high Andes is a symbol for Quito. Along the exterior walls of Asamblea National del Ecuador, pedestrians are impressed with  human-sized, stylized, and imaginative sculptures of hummingbirds. 

Hummingbirds, colibríes in Spanish symbolizes love, joy, hope, life, charm and peace.  

Although hummingbirds are also found in other regions of the world including in North America, Hummingbirds of Ecuador have unique and distinctive features including tail feathers, shape of their bill and bright colors that were adapted to this environment.  

According to Ecuadorian government publications, there are over 132 species of hummingbirds and Ecuador holds the world record of having about 40% of all hummingbirds.

I would love to return to Ecuador again, to the Choco-Andes region where it is said to have the highest concentration of hummingbird species in Ecuador.
