Aloha Everyone,
Gijón in Spanish or Xixón in the local dialect, is the largest city and municipality in the autonomous community of Austria. This morning, we took an express bus from Oviedo. The round trip fare was USD $5.50 each. Clean, efficient, the bus took us through apple growing farmland. Today it was a ideal weather to walk around this charming city on the Bay of Biscay.
The two of us particularly enjoyed watching about a dozen beginning surfers in their wetsuits trying to ride baby waves. It was like watching very young children learning to ride bicycles. What was also visually interesting were seeing surfers with crosses on the stone walls of Plaza del Campo in the foreground.
After hearing about David and Vicki’s ocean adventure, I am most curious about what their “home” looks like. As J.J. and I walked around the yacht harbor, I was looking for a “like” sailing boat but found none. It seems a double mast blue water boat is rare.
The design of red t-shirts Javier was wearing at the tourist information center was attractive. When I mentioned that I would like to purchase one, Javier quickly answered that it is his uniform and he cannot sell it to me :-). Photographed with Lucia, Javier gifted me with a couple of wrist bands.
