Aloha Everyone,
On her way to New York from Manila, our friend Dolores, stopped in LA to visit J.J. and me for 3 days. It was a whirlwind trip for her. The day of her arrival, we purchased take-out food, then went to our hotel to catch up with our lives. We talk with one another every few weeks, but face-to-face conversation is far more interesting, open and relaxed.
Day 2, we drove using Honu to visit our daughter-in-law and granddaughter. J.J. drove a total of 5 hours. Over a wonderful lunch which our daughter-in-law had prepared for us, Dolores absolutely was enchanted and delighted getting to know our granddaughter. Dolores met her once when our granddaughter was a few months old. Photos and videos, she stated, do not show her personality and character :-). She told us that was the highlight of her 3 days visit.
On Day 3, J.J. arranged a gathering with his cousins. It is a small world as Dolores was a very good friend of their late older brother and his wife. Over Filipino food, our conversation was fun and lively.
It is always wonderful to see your friends.
Aloha -- Cathi
