Relaxing Last Day in Madrid

Aloha Everyone,

There is no typical day when staying overseas. I believe that’s what adds spice and excitement to our lives. I do try to maintain several things to accomplish on a daily basis.

1). Practice a language - currently Spanish. Starting tomorrow, I will add 3 new Portuguese vocabularies.
2). Do a sketch.
3). Reply emails and send messages to our children.
4). Practice yoga followed by meditation.
5). Listen to the Blinkist selection of Free Daily Pick. If the book is irrelevant or unappealing, I will read a book on iPad.
6). Play 2 computer games to keep my mind sharp.

Our daily breakfast is ‘cafe con leche’ (1/2 coffee, 1/2 steamed milk) plus toast with butter at a nearby café. The two of us plan activities for the day, do research including downloading directional maps. Lunch is our main meal as Spaniards start their dinner after 9 p.m. which is too late for us.

Today, J.J. and I walked to Plaza de Santa Ana where Eddy took us to meet Tony & Margot. Margot mentioned that during weekdays, even upscale restaurants offer Menu del Dia (3 course set menu) at reasonable prices. Café & Tapas was a good choice. J.J. had cream soup (sweet potatoes) and teriyaki beef with white rice and cheese cake. I had mixed vegetable salad, albóndigas (meat balls) and watermelon. Our bill was €25 or $27.70 inclusive of bottled water, VAT and service charges.

An excellent walking day with some interesting sights. J.J. accomplished 4.4 miles and I did 7.3.
