Aloha Everyone,
There are some excellent hole-in-a-wall diners located in the downtown areas of Tucson. Their location attract students from the nearby University of Arizona. Sophisticated, contemporary and international fares are great options for us. The main obstacle we face is finding a place to park Honu.
Jerry Bob’s Family Restaurant is a recent good find. It is located in the same shopping complex as Bashas supermarket where J.J. and I have been frequenting Starbucks to use their WiFi.
Service at Jerry Bob’s is like it was 30 years ago Most diners are retirees and they seemed to be bused from local assisted care facilities. Selections of food and pricing are also of yesteryears. By our second visit, we were greeted like old friends.
Here is J.J.’s Pork Tenderloin served with mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade buns and Clam Chowder Soup. (The latter was served piping hot). My Vegetarian Skillet served with 2 boiled eggs and a picante sauce was excellent.
Another favorite is Cracker Barrel. Food is consistently good and inexpensive.
Aloha -- Cathi
