Aloha Everyone,
Jim and his wife Debbie, both volunteer campground host at the Theodore Roosevelt Cottonwood Campground waved their farewell. They seemed like a genuinely wonderful couple. I am sorry that we did not have a chance to get to know each other as J.J. and I made a decision to depart a day early.
Today was a long driving day. When we passed “Home on the Range” in North Dakota, I recalled a classic western folk song of the same name.
However, this Home On The Range is a therapeutic, working ranch to provide education, therapy, spiritual guidance with trauma specific habilitation goals.
In Montana, we passed Pompey’s Pillar National Monument. Making a mental note to visit it the next time we come this way again.
J.J. wanted to stop for lunch in Billings at a Greek Restaurant called Athenian. We recall enjoying their authentic Greek dishes. Unfortunately, it was Labor Day and many restaurants in downtown Billings, including the Athenian, were closed.
Compromise and improvise, we stopped at Albertsons and made a huge food purchaseq including too much veggies and fruits. Our lunch was inside Honu at a rest stop. With signs posted about rattlesnakes, I refrained from stepping out to get my walking exercise.
We covered more than 400 miles and we’re on the road for nearly 10 hours.
Staying at KOA Greycliff-Big Timber for the night. Honu is safely tucked in a site surrounded by trees.
Aloha -- Cathi
