ABC of RVing

Aloha Everyone,

RVs include self-propelled recreational vehicle like Honu which include living accommodations combined with a vehicle engine. Travel trailers on the other hand include fifth wheels, and truck campers. The engine and passenger compartment are separate.

Here are some interesting data for those of us who are living the RV life:
1). Some 9 million RVs are on the road in the United States, according  to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association published circa 6/2016.
2). In 2017, 430,000 recreational vehicles of all types were sold. This is an increase of 15% over the previous year. (Source: RV industry Association)
3). There are over 13,000 privately owned RV parks such as KOA (Kampgrounds of America) and over 1,600 state parks in the United States.
4). Overnight park fees with hook-ups (water, electric, sewer) range from $35 to $60 depending on the size of the RV, site (back-in or pull through), day of the week, etc. The typical price quoted are for 2 adults, no children, no pets. You pay extra for a 3rd or 4th adult. We have paid as high as $85 for the 2 of us.
Our preference is either state parks or national parks, the latter is usually operated by concessioners. The downside, compared to private RV parks is that they do not have WiFi. Also depending on how remote these state and national parks are located, we have no phone signal.
