Today we took Honu for servicing at Les Schwabs Tire Center in Lincoln City. After replacing Honu’s 6 tires, we are good for another 60,000 miles!
While waiting for the tire change, J.J. and I walked to the shopping mall across the street to look for a place for lunch. Our choice was limited to a snack store where their primary items were ice cream and candies or Momiji, “Gourmet Japanese & Chinese Cuisine”. For those of you who are familiar with these 2 cooking styles, they are very different. For instance, rice used in authentic Japanese and Chinese dishes are very different. Cooking utensils, dinner wares and chopstick too have clear differences. Skeptical, but famished as it was way over our lunch time, J.J. ordered a large lunch box (?) while I chose a conservative small vegetable tempura, ala carte. J.J. stood up leaving his plate half full. No request for a take out box. This indicates he did not like the food.
Devil’s Lake State Park is located at the southwest shore of Devil’s Lake and within Lincoln City. Open for year-round camping, there are 28 full-hookup sites, paved parking, picnic table and fire ring at all sites. Flush toilets and hot showers for guests makes this one of the great finds on US 101 along the northern Oregon Coast.
At its deepest point, Devil’s Lake is 22 feet deep. However its average depth is more shallow across the lake’s 678 acres.
Most visitors we met were from other states, relishing the tranquil beauty of the park.
