Amanda & Brent, the Honeymooners & Trip to Port Angeles

Aloha Everyone,

Amanda and Brent from Minnesota are touring the Olympic Peninsula during their honeymoon. Their cozy Volkswagen camper reminded us of the rental vans we traveled in Europe during the early years of our RV adventure. The newly weds are at one of the important junctures in their lives. They love the RV lifestyle and are looking for ways to continue.

Brief but positive encounters can have lasting impressions. We are linked to each other in spirit. With hugs and good wishes, we parted company.

Honu’s back seating area, where 3 passengers can sit comfortably using seat belts, converts into our “RV Kingsize bed”. This morning the motor which allows the seat to rise and recline stopped working. There is a humming sound but no action.

We drove 70 miles from Forks to Port Angeles in search of a repair shop. We have come to appreciate that just because the shop advertises “fast repair while you wait”, that does not explain when the waiting begins. They can check what is wrong in three weeks.  We have decided to forgo the repair for now.

Retracing our route back to Forks and to  Olympic National Forest. We checked in at the Quinault Lake Rain Forest Resort RV Park.

The World’s Largest Sitka Spruce, proudly stands just outside of our RV park perimeter. To call this a “giant tree” sounds inappropriate . It is estimated to be over 1,000 years old.  As I walked around its base, I felt the warmth radiating from its mighty trunk.

Aloha -- Cathi
