Aloha Everyone,
Whenever a baby encounters another baby, they stare at one another intently. J.J. and I have a somewhat similar reactions when we see a Honu lookalike. If we are passing each other on a highway, J.J. flashes his headlights. If we are driving on a city street, both of us wave and give thumbs up!
J.J. alerted me that a Honu look-alike ahead of us at the KOA Mercer Campground in Mercer, PA. I decided to go on my walk and to investigate.
Carl and Kacey immediately made me feel welcome. When they started to share with me the details of their custom-made RV, I went back to Honu to ask J.J. to join us. While the exterior of Vador and Honu do lookalike, interior configurations and materials used are quite different. During our visit, which lasted about an hour, we learned that:
a). Carl and Kacey have a permanent home in Kansas City, Missouri.
b). Their first license plate name choice, Vader was already taken, thus the modified name.
c). Vador is their 2nd RV and they had it custom made in 2008 by Sportsmobile. The two of us were impressed with the quality and craftsmanship.
d). Carl & Kacey usually log 20,000 to 22,000 miles per year.
e). They have travelled to Baja (Mexico) with a small caravan of RVs led by a professional guide.
f). Alaska is one of their favorite destinations and they have driven there 4 times.
Experienced RVers full of information and helpful hints, Kacey invited me to call her so that they can assist us with our Alaskan travel.
Aloha -- Cathi
