To Sheridan, Wyoming via Sturgis, SD

Aloha Everyone,

Sturgis is famous for perhaps the largest annual motorcycle rally in the world. If you are a serious motorcycle enthusiast, you must go to Sturgis at least once in your lifetime. The motorcycle rally is held annually on the second full week of August. But today, it was a quiet, charming town preparing itself for the arrival of rally week (August). Between 500,000 to 750,000 descend on a town of 7,000 during rally week.

From Sturgis, South Dakota to Gillette, Wyoming, I was happy to drive for two hours.

J.J. wanted to have Chinese food today. Hong Kong restaurant in Gillette was our choice. My Hunan-style beef with vegetables and J.J.'s beef with broccoli and pork rolls were tastily prepared in American-style. Portions were very large and we each had half of our dishes packed for dinner.

As we approached Buffalo, I was glad that J.J. was driving because the scenery was beautiful and I was able to take numerous photos.

Sheridan has a population of approximately 27,500. A typical western town owing its beginning to agriculture and cattle ranching, mining and logging and a railroad depot.

Tonight we are staying at Sheridan/Big Horn Mountains KOA campground. This is a beautiful location, a perfect place for walking. I love listening to the sound of rapid running water from Goose Creek and seeing Big Horn Mountains with snow-capped peaks.

Aloha -- Cathi
