Schenectady, New York

Aloha Everyone,

It's fun to share with others how we met Len and Vita from Schenectady (pronounced "ska-neck-tah-tee"). We met in the parking lot of Zion National Park!

Last year during the school spring break of our granddaughter, J.J. and I went to the Zion National Park with our son's family. Len & Vita were curious about Honu which led to us exchanging emails followed by an invitation to visit them at their home in New York.

Schenectady is derived from a Mohawk word meaning "beyond the pines." The city is only 14 miles from Albany, the New York State Capitol. The Mohawk River and Erie Canal helped Schenectady develop rapidly from trade and agriculture to manufacturing, owing its growth to companies such as General Electric and American Locomotive Company (ALCO).

As Len and Vita introduced their home town to us, I took advantage of the sun light to capture their garden with its early summer flowers in full bloom.
