Las Vegas Chinatown

Aloha Everyone,

You don't usually associate Las Vegas with Chinatown. Although there are numerous Chinese restaurants in Las Vegas from very upscale to hole in the wall noodle shops, but a real Chinatown?

Chinatown Plaza Shopping Center opened in 1995. It was the beginning of Las Vegas Chinatown. In 1999, then Nevada Governor, Kenny Guinn officially designated the area as Chinatown.

Compared to San Francisco or New York, Las Vegas Chinatown is small. It is actually a series of strip malls located about 2 1/2 miles along Spring Mountain Road just west of the Strip.

With ample parking space for Honu, we decided on Harbor Palace Seafood Restaurant. The restaurant has dim sum lunch 7 days a week.

Chinatown Las Vegas definitely deserves return visits. J.J. and I saw Thai, Japanese, Korean and even Starbucks with their frontage blending into bright yellow Chinese pagoda motif. This was truly a wonderful discovery.

Aloha -- Cathi
