From Hot Springs to Little Rock

Aloha Everyone,

Our stay in the Hot Springs National Park Campground was very leisurely. There are a number of easy to demanding trail hikes in Hot Springs. Unfortunately, after last night's heavy rain, the ground was soaked. I will do the hikes during a future trip.

We drove up and down the center of the town of Hot Springs before finding ourselves back on I-40.

The town of Hot Springs was developed following people's interest in therapeutic water. The place reminded us of other touristic towns. Today, most of the former large bath houses have been converted to other businesses including hotels and spas. The façades of these buildings still standing display their glorious past. J.J. and I also noticed buildings with hospital and sanitarium signs.

We saw some vapors coming out of fountains but could not ascertain whether they were sulphuric often associated with mineral hot springs.

I couldn't help but take photos of the impressive Pentecostal Church located in North Little Rock.

Honu's accommodation for the night is KOA, North Little Rock, Arkansas. The manager is outgoing and friendly and within 5 minutes of meeting, she told me her life story including that she has 18 grandchildren from an assortment of relationships. The guests are equally friendly offering unsolicited advices on routes, places and things to see.

The sun is out and it's a beautiful day. A perfect day to take care of our laundry.

Aloha -- Cathi
