Desert Exposure

Aloha Everyone,

I enjoy perusing local newspapers to look for ongoing events that might interest the two of us.

Desert Exposure features art & leisure in Southern New Mexico. "Dead Poets in Deming" article by Prinne McCourt perked my curiosity. Streets names Kipling, Bryant, Emerson, Tennyson,  Sandburg and Whittier are mentioned. McCourt gives brief background of each of the writers along with excerpts from their work. Not only would I be interested in driving through these streets, but hopefully be inspired to read great literatures again. www.desertexposure.com

Deming, NM is located 60 miles west of Las Cruces and 33 miles north of the Mexican border. A population of 15,000 supports a small Walmart store, hotels and restaurants.

The large dining room of Marie's Italian Grill was nearly full. Freshly baked bread served with olive oil promised that we may look forward to a good lunch. J.J. had a cream of potato soup and I chose mixed green salad. We shared Manicotti and calamari as our main course.

We checked in at Las Cruces KOA. Taking advantages of the sun and a wonderful site, I was able to get my walking exercise for nearly 2 hours!

Aloha -- Cathi
