Aloha Everyone,
Museo Massimo is one of 4 national Roman Museums. This museum features one of the best archeological and classical art collections in the world.
Extensive exhibits are easy to follow as they are divided into themes with Italian and English notations and organized chronologically. These exhibits occupy 4 floors of the Palazzo Massimo.
J.J. and I viewed famous Greek and Roman sculptures and statues. Interesting to see the transformation of young Octavian to Augustus, the terrific politician, who unified Rome and ushered in the Pax Romana. Best preserved Roman frescos taken from villas of prominent and wealthy families were very impressive.
After spending two and half hours, we decided to skip the basement floor where Roman coins, jewels and grave ornaments were being housed.
The remainder of the day was relaxing with a leisurely lunch, and people watching over a cup of cappuccino.
Aloha -- Cathi
