Aloha Everyone,
Breezy morning the sound of songbirds woke me up at 5:00 am. J.J. and I decide to make our breakfast somewhere on the 36 miles scenic loop where we can enjoy the magnificent views.
The timing was perfect. Misty fog lifted at our first stop where I went on a short 1/2 mile hike. I was treated with unbelievable beautiful and a changing landscape. Grateful that I was able to practice meditation and do 50 jumping jacks!
Dan from Minnesota was on the side of the road that was being blocked by the herd of bisons. Some of the bulls are so enormous that we wouldn't want to be close to them without Honu's protection. J.J. offered for him to follow us behind Honu. The herd scattered as we slowly approached.
Medora is a tourist western town located outside of the park's South Unit. It was founded in 1883 by the 24 years old French nobleman, the Marquis de Mores. He named the town after his wealthy heiress bride, Medora. The story has a tragic ending but the town's name remains. In 1986 Harold Schafer, a very successful businessman and a philanthropist, established the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation.
