Aloha Everyone,
This morning we continued our RMNP tour with Diane. She made a quick stop to show us what is believe to be one of the oldest motels in America.
Diane was totally focused that today she would locate us a herd of elk. The reaction of finally seeing them in the wild was indescribable. The herd with approximately 20-40 animals had more than one bull with large magnificent antlers. Hopefully you would also be able to view these wild animals in their natural habitat.
There are numerous ponds and lakes within the RMNP. Diane took us to Lake Irene, a small lake with a walk around its perimeter.
While Diane and I walked and did some yoga poses, J.J. met Alan & Joan from Wichita, Kansas. Joan, a retired Special Ed teacher had just published a book called, "What's Right With Me? Hope for the Dyslexic". It sounds like an inspiring book.
Grand Lake Lodge built in 1919 is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Large lobby with roaring fireplace must have hosted many interesting guests. Glass enclosed patio was a perfect setting for us to enjoy the beautiful Grand Lake and surrounding mountains.
Weather in the RNNP is truly unpredictable. Beautiful sunny sky suddenly turned dark and another rainy afternoon shortened today's adventure.
In the evening, J.J. and I returned to the safety of Honu from our walk just as the heavy rain turned into a hail storm.
