As soon as we left the North Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, J.J. relinquished the driver's seat. At times, road constructions and orange cones dividing two way traffic required that I pay extra attention. However, once we were on an open interstate highway, I was comfortable maintaining 80 mph speed using the cruise control.
At Miles City, we shopped at Walmart, Albertsons, washed Honu and finally stopped at Black Iron Grill located at the edge of town for typical Montana fare - J.J. grilled burger and me, grilled steak and cottage cheese. I found the cottage cheese to my liking that I shared the steak with J.J.
We read that In Montana the elk, deer and antelope or now they refer to as Pronghorn outnumber the human population. The state's official animal is the Grizzly Bear and Montana has the largest grizzly bear population in the United States except Alaska.
Instead of sighting wild animals, we enjoyed the ever changing landscape of the big sky country.
Interesting fact: a large bale of hay such as you see here is sold for $25. Now that is a lots of work for farmers for such a small amount. Next we would like to find out how many bales of hays a cow consumes over one winter.
Honu's accommodation for the night is KOA Campground in Hardin, Montana. This location is near the Big Horn River close to Custer's last stand at Little Big Horn.
