Shopping At New Costco Wholesale in Torrance

Aloha Everyone,

The freeway traffic from San Diego to Los Angeles was relatively light and it took us less than two hours to return to my Mother's house.

After lunch, we accompanied my Mother to the new Costco Wholesale warehouse that just opened in Torrance.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Costco Wholesale, it's business model is warehouse club retailer. The company is operating in eight countries including Canada, Australia, UK and Japan.

In 1998 Costco opened a 148,000-sq ft warehouse in Torrance. The new store that just opened on June 2nd is nearly 166,000 sq ft on a 17.5 acres site. Actually the two properties are adjacent to each other. A large section of the parking lot is still under construction. When completed, there will be 874 parking spaces or 150 more than the old facility.

My Mother shopped for her usual Costco items: rib eye steaks, bacon. brown eggs and watermelon. J.J. and I picked up Carnation Creamer in individual containers, unsalted mixed nuts, pesto sauce, Dubliner cheese, salmon, lobster tails and fresh blueberries. We also were able to purchase two items, the main reason for going to Costco: 6 pairs of Kirkland brand Athletic Socks and a pack of 6 white T-shirts for J.J.

Aloha -- Cathi
