Aloha Everyone,
Nearly two years ago, J.J. and I visited Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. It was a triggering point for my interest in birding. One of the reasons why we find Bear River an ideal place to watch birds in their natural habitat is that there are few visitors. Unlike Yosemite or Yellowstone or any other major destinations where you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, we were left to set our own pace. Perhaps it is intentionally only gravel roads to discourage visitors from speeding through this bird sanctuary.
Compared to the previous time, birds were not as active on the roads we were on. According to the ranger, this is when the birds are breeding and some already have babies.
J.J. took a 30 minutes nap while I watched several species of water fowls interacting.
The flight of large cranes was exciting to witness, but not necessarily good timing for me to photograph. The cranes keep their distance.
After we did our weekly laundry, J.J. grilled a rib-eye steak on the park's BBQ grill.
Aloha -- Cathi
