Aloha Everyone,
There is always a newness and elements of surprise in my Mother's garden. This morning, I saw a single red rose among multi-hued variety. It was absolutely arresting. There are also tiny white daisies thriving throughout the year, always ready to be useful. My Mother's life resembles these flowers. Fiercely individualistic yet always ready to be useful offering assistance to family, friends and strangers. Her life is centered on volunteering. We are grateful for her presence and influence in our lives.
As I watched her wave us adieu looking happy and youthful, Gabriel García Márquez's writings on life came to my mind:
"What matters in life is not what happens to you but what you remember and how you remember it."
"It is not true that people stop pursuing dreams because they grow old, they grow old because they stop pursuing dreams."
"Age isn't how old you are but how old you feel."
Traffic on Interstate 101 North was relatively light until we entered San Louis Obispo. We are happy to be staying at the Vine RV Resort in Paso Roble. This is one of the most luxurious and one of our favorite RV resorts in the West Coast. After having our salad and an assortment of food my Mother packed for us, J.J. and I went on our evening walk. The cool breeze and a fabulous sunlit sky was a perfect ending to our first day back on the road.
