Valley of Fire State Park to Zion National Park

Aloha Everyone,

Valley of Fire State Park is located about an hour east of Las Vegas. I first heard about this park from our friends, Susan and Jim in Port O'Connor, TX. Then Larry, one of our son's friends told us that he and his wife just returned from a wonderful hiking and biking trip. We just had to set aside a couple of hours to explore this park.

Nevada has 23 state parks and Valley of Fire State Park is the oldest. Designated  as a National Natural Landmark in 1968, the park covers an area of almost 42,000 acres. Easy access from I-15 is also is an added attraction. As you can see from the photos, this is definitely a "must stop" off I-15.

Tonight our family is staying at the Zion National Park Lodge. This is the only hotel located within Zion National Park, The name “Zion” means a place of peace and refuge. With small cottage-style buildings, this place certainly offers peace and tranquility without compromising the comforts of a luxury hotel.

For dinner we were joined by our granddaughter's classmate and his family. Adults' lively conversation would have kept on going if it were not for the children who were ready to go to bed.

Aloha -- Cathi
