Back to Yuma, Arizona

Aloha Everyone,

The two of us have made several trips from West to East and back on I-10. I am always fascinated by the Picacho Peak and its prominent 1,500 ft summit. There is camping available at Picacho Peak State Park. I think we should plan to spend sometime exploring state parks in Arizona. By the way Picacho in Spanish means "point or peak". So by saying Picacho Peak, we are saying, "peak, peak."

The I-8 and I-10 exchange was closed. This meant we had to go through downtown Phoenix, adding an extra 40 minutes to our drive. We decided on the healthier fast food of IN-N-OUT burger. Nearly lunch time, the restaurant which can accommodate 75 diners was filled. Their people moving system from order taking to order fulfillment is impressive. Watching them serving people always with a smile and politeness was like the Disneyland operation. Our lunch of 2 hamburgers, one fry and 1 drink came out $8.32. Per customer, J.J. roughly calculated that within an hour, the restaurant can gross $1,500.

Watching the beautiful desert flowers I received an overseas call from a dear friend. Our conversation lasted nearly an hour. It was a very special treat.

In Wellton, the I-8 navigates through a pass before reaching Yuma.

Many cities located in southern Arizona, including Yuma, are favorites with snowbirds. They come to get away from the winter, usually from November to April. We passed a number of RV parks along I-10 and I-8 advertising weekly and monthly special rates.

Tonight we are back at the Linda Vista RV Park in Yuma, AZ.  We finished our dinner early so J.J. and I could catch up on our work using the free WiFi.

J.J.'s spareribs dinner.

My super salad.
