Serene & Peaceful Guadalupe River State Park

Aloha Everyone,

Located about an hour north of San Antonio in the edge of the Hill Country, Guadalupe River State Park is very different from any of the six that J.J. and I have visited. For one thing, with 4 miles of river frontage, this park offers rafting and kayaking in addition to swimming, fishing, biking, hiking and yes, bird watching.

Due to the proximity to San Antonio, the park was full on Friday and Saturday. Today, it is very quiet with campers having more than ample space around to enjoy serenity.

The camp host told us to watch out for raccoon as they try to come around and steal any goods that you might leave outside -- even in your ice chest. Honu is completely self-contained. Therefore, we may observe raccoon and other animals without having them get into our food supplies.

Tonight we had take out food of Beef Pad Thai from a Thai restaurant in town. J.J. also made stir fried baby kale with shallots and mushrooms. Both dishes were excellent.

Aloha -- Cathi
