Aloha Everyone,
Wake up call at 6:00 am, by 7:15 am, we headed to the pier.
Jim and Susan knew the good fishing spots inside the levee. Immediately after we stopped and cast our lines, J.J. caught the first Sheep Head (black & white striped fish). Unfortunately it did not meet the minimum size. The fish had to be released.
Either Jim or Susan baited my fish hook with live shrimp. They both helped cast my line as the line kept on just dropping in front of me. Nevertheless, it is thrilling to feel a fish tugging on your line and more so when you can see the fish. Though the waves were sometime high and the sky was threatening rain, the four hours or so we spent on the boat went by very quickly.
Guess who caught the biggest and most fish? Me!
Fishing involves lots of work. Upon return, Jim washed down his boat and the fishing poles, then he and Susan cleaned the fish. They kept a total of 4 fish for our lunch and gave away 4 to friends. The part of the fish that are not eaten were either fed to feral cats or taken to the pier for Pelicans. Nothing was wasted.
Jim and Susan invited me to join their daily exercise of Zumba for 30 minutes. Then we practiced yoga for 30 minutes.
Absolutely amazing fishing day with truly wonderful friends. First time for us.
Aloha -- Cathi
