Our Visit to Brigham Young University

Aloha Everyone,

Brigham Young University, also known as BYU is a private research university owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints (LDS). It is the 3rd largest private university in the United States and the largest religious university. BYU offers 133 undergraduate degrees.

Beverly at the Visitor center arranged for us to have a campus tour in a golf cart.

Approximately 99% of the university's 30,000 students are members of the LDS Church. BYU also has 68 Masters and 25 Doctoral programs.

Our student tour guide, Kylee is majoring in Public Relations. Confident yet respectful, she learned Tagalog (official language of the Philippines) and spent 18 months in the areas called Baguio and La Union, Philippines. Our conversation rose to the next level as J.J. and I can visualize the villages and imagine where Kylee had done her missionary work.

Our visit to BYU Provo was extremely interesting and educational. The campus is beautiful.

OREGANO Italian Kitchen was open for lunch.

Excellent food. Our appetizers, Calamari fritti and fried sweet potatoes were perfect. J.J. had grilled chicken with spaghetti Alfredo and I had penne Primavera vegetarian. Servings were very large that I brought back 3/4 of my sweet potatoes as well as my pasta.

J.J. ordered Cannoli for dessert for us to share. For our wonderful meal, we paid $47 inclusive of tip.

This is our 3rd and last night at KOA Provo campground. We are enjoying the remnants of autumn colors as strong winds are blowing off leaves.

Aloha -- Cathi
