Aloha Everyone,
We've known Angie since she was 4 years young. She and her siblings shared many birthdays and holidays with our two sons. It is a joy to see her happily married, a mother of two little girls, and the position of Director for International Education at Northfield Mount Hermon School. This is a private boarding school for students in grades 9-12. The campus is in Gill, MA with a beautiful, tranquil rural setting on 1,500 acres of rolling hills.
We met the family at Alumni Hall. Angie explained to us that the current student body is 650 and about 25% are international students.
What J.J. and I noticed as we had lunch in the large cafeteria-style dining hall was that the students seemed engaged and comfortable being there. The atmosphere was more like a college than a high school. The quality of food was truly exceptional with a large selection of dishes that J.J. and I joked that the school must have had a famous chef or two working in the kitchen.
Here is my selection of vegetarian lunch. Thin sticks which resemble carrots are sweet potato fries and they were delicious!
The girls wanted to feed horses so here we are with 4 large Clydesdales, so gentle that they allowed the girls to pet them.
Here is where maple syrups harvested from maple trees on the school premises are processed and bottled.
Dan, who had interned at an organic farm showed me two of the flowers that are edible.
