To enter Pennsylvania, we took I-70 cutting through the north-eastern corner of West Virginia. Occasional light drizzle, but pleasant driving with excellent road condition.
Entering into West Virginia, J.J. and I noticed changes in the topography from flat farmlands in Ohio to hills and thick groves of trees.
At the Welcome Center in Donegal, Pennsylvania, Billie gave us information about the Lincoln Highway and the Pennsylvania Dutch Community in Lancaster.
Our lunch was at a small Mexican restaurant located in a strip-mall near Rostraver. Juana and Sandra, if you are following my blog, you'd be happy to know that I was able to communicate in Spanish with the restaurant staff. Though they spoke with heavily accented Mexican Spanish, we were able to understand one another.
The Lincoln Highway (US Route 30) was the first transcontinental highway for automobiles across the United States. It runs coast to coast from Time Square in New York City to Lincoln Park in San Francisco, CA. The Lincoln Highway's total length is 3,142 miles. The highway traverses 128 counties and over 700 cities, towns and villages through 14 states. Here are some pictures we took on The Lincoln Highway from in Donegal until Lancaster County in Pennsylvania.
As we drove passed the village of Quenahoning. We saw a sign "Autowrecker." J.J.'s rough estimate was that there were over 1,000 cars parked, to be either resold for parts or to be melted.
