Aloha Everyone,
When people think about New York, the first thing that pops into their heads is New York City, home of The Empire State Building, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Museum of Modern Art, Broadway and 5th Avenue. However, on this trip we bypassed NYC completely and head to upstate New York.
The vast majority of the state is very rural, with many farming communities.
This "I LOVE NY" sign was located in the town of Kirkwood.
We drove by Cooperstown, famous for their Baseball Hall of Fame museum.
For road safety measures we follow our friend Pat's rule of thumb is to be comfortably settled in an RV campground by 3:00 pm. The two of us started our search using SIRI and when we lost signal, we resorted to guide books.
Locust Park Campsite was the only RV park on this stretch of Route 88.
However, after just one look at their bathroom and shower facilities, J.J. and I decided it Locust Park was a little too rustic for our tastes.
J.J. drove for an additional 2 1/2 hours or about 120 miles to find us a new campsite. We passed through charming towns such as Bennington:
Readsboro:
and Wilmington:
We found a nice KOA RV Park in Brattleboro, Vermont. Relieved and happy that we have safely arrived at a clean, secure RV site, we celebrated our good blessing with Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
