Fantastic, Mesmerizing, Inspiring Yellowstone!

Aloha Everyone,

Among all of the national parks we have visited so far, Yellowstone offers the most diverse sights and personal experiences.

Here are some of the interesting facts:

1) Established as the world's first national park on March 1, 1872.

2). Occupies 3,472 square miles or 2,222,766 acres.

3) 96% of the park is in Wyoming, 3% in Montana & 1% in Idaho. Approx. 5% is covered by water, 25% grassland and 80% forest.

4). Yellowstone Lake is the highest altitude lake in North America with 141 miles of shoreline with average depth of 140 feet.  Deepest part is 410 feet.

5). Yellowstone is an active volcano with one of the world's largest calderas that measures 45 x 30 miles.

6). There are approximately 290 waterfalls in the park.

7)  67 species of mammals including Grizzly and black bears, elk, moose, bison and grey wolf, and more make the park their home.

8). There are more than 300 geysers and Old Faithful is the most famous.

9). Temperature in the park fluctuates greatly. Record high is 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the lowest is minus
66 degrees Fahrenheit.

10) There are almost 1,000 miles of back country trails, camping, boating and fishing opportunities.
They all require permits.

Our first Yellowstone experience was absolutely fantastic. This is definitely another place we would like to return.
