Movie Review - McFarland, USA

Aloha Everyone,

The movie is based on a real-life story in a rural, economically challenged town in California. Both the coach and his cross-country team are inexperienced, but they overcome racial and cultural differences and mistrust. Eventually, the entire town support their quest to compete in the state championship race.

Starring Kevin Costner as Coach White, it is a well cast, and well acted film. Disney production of "feel good" film, but not overly melodramatic. Very enjoyable and suitable for the entire family.

For lunch, we went to a steakhouse. J.J. had a BBQ plate consisting of ribs, brisket and chicken.

I chose the NY steak and lobster combination. The baked potato was excellent. I brought back a large container of leftovers.

My healthy dinner was a large salad of heart of baby Romaine lettuce, broccoli, cucumber, avocado, tofu, dried cranberries with blue cheese, lemon and sesame dressing.

Aloha -- Cathi
