Ciao Cuenca, Hola Miami

Aloha Everyone,

J.J. and I had a mixed emotion about leaving Cuenca. Our taxi driver proudly stated, "My family go to New York to make their fortune. But they return to Cuenca to enjoy the fruits of their labor."

We don't know about the rest of South America but Cuenca certainly was a wonderful city to spend a month.

We travel light. These plus J.J.'s computer bag and my small shoulder bag.

The 35 minute domestic flight to Quito was uneventful. Due to our Premier Economy Class tickets, we were able to use the VIP lounge to rest and have a mid-morning snack. From Quito to Miami flying time is about 3 1/2 hours. Of the 18 seats in Premiere Economy section (they have no First Class or Business Class) only 1 other seat was being occupied. J.J. and I enjoyed a full lunch.

Smooth entry back to the United States. We are spending one night  at the Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel.  Our room has a view of canal and the golf course, but everything is shrouded in the late afternoon haze.

Coffee shop in the hotel

Light dinner of hamburger for J.J. and a cheese pizza for me. Spent some time on the phone with our family. It's great to be back in the states.

Aloha -- Cathi
