Aloha Everyone,
In the process of our searching the location of the language school, J.J. and I walked around the old town of Cuenca for about 2 1/2 hours.
April 12 is the 458th Anniversary of the founding of Cuenca. Perfect timing to be here as there are numerous cultural events unfolding for the entire month.
Calderon Park is just a short block from our apartment.
Historic center of Cuenca
458th Anniversary of Cuenca parade
Stopped by to obtain information and maps at the Tourism Information office

Gabriella - on left is a student of Cuenca University studying tourism
Beautiful building often featured for Cuenca tourism used to be a bank. It is now a museum.
Impressive entry. The museum had free admission.
More walking in search of a restaurant for lunch.
Trattoria Noveccento is an excellent Italian Restaurant. They offer Italian and local cuisines. J.J. enjoyed Spaghetti alla Vongole. Locro De Papas, traditional Andian potato soup served with mozzarella cheese cubes and a large chunk of fresh avocado was my choice. This was my first experience with Ecuadorian food and it was delicious.
Plazoletta San Francisco is where our apartment building is located.
Looking towards Calle San Francisco.
Our building, Clinica Dental is in the middle and we are on the top floor on the opposite side of Plazoletta San Francisco. We found out that this is the quiet side as we don't hear the street noise.
New Cathedral with its blue domes is just one block away from our location. I took this photo as we were returning to our apartment.
Aloha -- Cathi
