Rainy drive on I-49 to Livingston (between Baton Rouge and Hammond)

Aloha Everyone,

Steady and constant sounds of rain on the roof top of Honu was soothing and comforting. For natural ventilation, we usually leave the ceiling vent open with the fan on. I had slept a total of 5 hours. When I woke up, J.J. was mopping the water puddle off the floor. We both went back to sleep half an hour later.

The Grand Prairie Rest Place between Alexandria and Opelousas on I-49, turned out to be an excellent stop for us. As soon as J.J. stepped out of Honu, Gerard came over. Honu is his dream retirement motor home and he had questions. He was with Juanita (center) and Leah, and the three of them were on their way to visit a relative. They are from an area where Gerard said produces the best oysters in Louisiana or perhaps in the entire United States.

Our lunch stop was a Cajun restaurant called Prejean's in Opelousas. It must be popular. There were more than 40 cars parked when we arrived at 11:30 AM.

J.J. had the fried oysters.

My lunch was a cup of corn & crab bisque with a side of baked yam. It was perfect as I am still trying to normalize my stomach after eating fried food with Cajun spices.

We checked in at a RV park just off I-12E in Livingston. The have beautiful lake and offers sports fishing. We paid an additional $4 for Honu's lakefront site, but tonight we will be content being indoor and staying dry. Hopefully, the weather improves tomorrow morning.
