Birthday Dinner; On to DeRidder, Louisiana

Aloha Everyone,

J.J. and I enjoy a wide array of international cuisine. Last night, when he wanted to have Thai food for his birthday dinner, Ria suggested Sugar Thai Fine Cuisine.

J.J. made a selection of 8 dishes including 3 appetizers. This was not an elegant dining place, but the food was excellent.

Shu mai

Fried Spring Roll (vegetarian)

Crab cream puff

Green Curry

Pad Thai (noodle dish).

We also had the crab fried rice, and chicken and beef.  (No photos taken)

We then went to "La Madeline" to purchase 3 slices of cakes. J.J. and I chose Sacher Torte, Victoria decided on a cheese cake and Ria and Rene's choice was Crème au beurre. We all had a taste of our picks and they were wonderful.

Before leaving Texas, we stopped at Buc-ee's in Baytown to fuel Honu and take a souvenir photo with a statue of Buc-ee. I had to wait in line with other tourists so J.J. could take my photo.

Karla from Baytown, Texas seemed to enjoy working as a cashier at Buc-ee's.

Our route was I-10 to Lake Charles then Highway 171N.

Tonight we are staying at a RV park in DeRidder, a small town. Alan, who helped us settle in told us that they had so much rain recently that grass pads are too soft. We are happy that Honu has a concrete pad.

Dinner was Cajun food at Steamboat Bill.  I will be writing about Cajun cooking later.

Aloha -- Cathi
