In Search of Nature With My Granddaughter

Aloha Everyone,

Today is the last day that J.J. and I are going to spend with our family in California before resuming our RV adventure. My granddaughter and I decided to make the most of it by exploring the neighborhood in search of nature.  Today's blog photos were achieved via a combined effort by the two of us.

A beautiful ladybug/ladybird/lady cow alighted on my granddaughter's hand. The scientific name for this insect is the Coccinellidae, but they are are known colloquially as ladybirds in Britain, Ireland, and the Southern United States, as ladybugs in the Northern United States, and are also referred to as lady cows or lady beetles in other regions.

She led us to the area where my granddaughter called it "a ladybird heaven".

Here are a collection of "treasures" gathered by our granddaughter and her friend.

We saw a bee.

Beautiful flowers.

Our granddaughter sees beauty in ordinary rock:

As well as holes in the ground which we suspect may be entrances for rabbits or ground squirrels:

As all good things must come to an end, we bid good night to this marvelous day, au revoir, and a hui hou to our wonderful family,

Aloha -- Cathi
